5 Ideas For Content Creation

Since publishing my blog post on getting high Google rankings through content marketing, I have had many people ask me – when it comes to content creation, what type of updates should I be making to my website to help SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?

In this post, I am going to list for you 5 ideas for content creation.

Why is content creation important for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?

Google loves great content. There is a definite correlation between online content and rankings.

It is my belief that Google especially loves to boost the rankings of websites that 1) are updated regularly with great content and 2) are mentioned in fresh content elsewhere on the web.

What is content? Content is the textual, graphical and video information contained within your web pages and elsewhere online.

What is great content? It is content that is better than your competitors!

    5 Ideas for Content Creation

    1. Blog Updates

My favorite way to keep a fresh supply of content flowing is to have a blog on your website. I recommend updating your blog one to four times per month (depending on the nature of your business), however more frequently is fine.

    2. Photo Updates

When creating blog updates, incorporate photos of the business, staff, equipment, customers and any other subject related to the business.

    3. Video Updates

Create occasional videos and post to your blog and social media. Videos are great content for blog updates and do not even have to be professionally created. Business owners can make a simple video with their smartphone and an external microphone.

    4. New Products, Offers and Discounts

If appropriate for your business website, it is a good for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to have a “What’s New” or “Sale Page” and occasionally add content about new products, services, and offers.

    5. FAQ Updates

Updating your Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page is a great way to improve your website visitors experience while also helping your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). Create and regularly update a list of the questions you get asked by your customers. Include keywords in the title and body of the FAQ – check out Ubersuggest for some keyword suggestions. Write comprehensive answers and post on your website. It is also good to update older FAQs to keep them fresh.

These are not the only types of website content for regular updates by any means, they are merely ideas to get you started.

I could’ve included many more sources for content creation e.g. customer testimonials, product reviews, how to videos, case studies, tutorials … the list is almost endless. You are likely to be limited only by your imagination (or lack of it).

My final tip when creating content to publish on your website is always represent your brand professionally and in your own voice.
